Job summary

Smile Education Recruitment is seeking an SEN Teaching Assistant to join a primary school in Rochdale. The role offers a permanent contract, full-time hours, and a daily rate of £95-£115. You will support SEN pupils, fostering independence and maintaining strong communication with staff and families.

The school has a good Ofsted rating and provides a welcoming environment. DBS checks are required, with options to apply for a new one if needed.

Qualifications

• DBS check up-to-date or willing to apply for new one.
• Teaching assistant qualification or health and social care level 2 or 3.
• Experience supporting SEN children on a 1:1 basis or small groups.
• Experience with primary or secondary school children.
• Two professional references covering the last 2 years of work history.

Responsibilities

• Encourage independence in class and with students, proactively.
• Build relationships with children, staff and families.
• Maintain constant communication with the class teacher about progress and teaching methods.
• Create a secure and positive environment for the child to learn and feel comfortable.

Responsibilities of the SEN Teaching Assistant

• Encouraging independence within the class and within students, being proactive
• Develop and concentrate on building a relationship with the children, staff and family members.
• Constant and consistent communication with the class teacher, regarding progress and potential methods of work.
• Create a secure and positive environment for the child to learn and feel comfortable.

Qualifications and experience

• An up-to-date DBS on the update service or the willingness to apply for a new one.
• A teaching assistant qualification or health and social care (level 2 or 3).
• Experience working with SEN children on a 1:1 basis or small groups work.
• Experience working with Primary or secondary school children.
• At least 2 professional references covering the last 2 years of work history.
