Job summary

Smile Education are recruiting an experienced Teaching Assistant to work in a year 6 class within a 1 form entry primary school. The role runs from after the October half term until the end of the academic year, in a village setting with modern facilities and supportive staff.

The candidate will assist with SEN pupils, maintain strong communication with the teacher, and help create a safe, welcoming classroom environment.

Qualifications

• DBS check up-to-date or within last 12 months.
• Teaching assistant qualification or Health & Social Care Level 2/3.
• Experience working with SEN children on a 1:1 basis or small groups.
• Experience working with primary school children.
• Two professional references covering last 2 years.

Responsibilities

• Encourage independence within the class and with students; be proactive.
• Develop and strengthen relationships with children, staff and families.
• Maintain constant communication with the class teacher about progress and methods.
• Create a secure and positive learning environment for children.

The school is located in a small village, easily commutable and has modern facitlies with a very supportive staff team.

The Responsibilities of the Teaching Assistant

• Encouraging independence within the class and within students, being proactive
• Develop and concentrate on building a relationship with the children, staff and family members.
• Constant and consistent communication with the class teacher, regarding progress and potential methods of work.
• Create a secure and positive environment for children to learn and feel comfortable.

• An up-to-date DBS on the update service or dated within the last 12 months.
• A teaching assistant qualification or health and social care (level 2 or 3).
• Experience working with SEN children on a 1:1 basis or small groups work.
• Experience working with Primary school children.
• At least 2 professional references covering the last 2 years of work history.
