Job summary

Tradewind Recruitment is recruiting for a dedicated SEN Teacher at a secondary special school in Tameside. You will deliver engaging, differentiated lessons to secondary pupils with autism and communication needs, fostering inclusive learning and strong pupil progress.

Join a supportive leadership team with excellent facilities and ongoing professional development, collaborating with teaching assistants, therapists and families to maximise each learner's outcomes.

Qualifications

  • Hold QTS or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
  • Experience teaching pupils with SEN or a genuine passion for SEN.
  • Understanding of adapting teaching for learners with Down syndrome and other needs.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver creative, differentiated lessons for individual learning needs.
  • Teach and support secondary pupils with SEN, including autism and communication needs.
  • Foster a safe, nurturing and inclusive classroom where every student can thrive.
  • Collaborate with teaching assistants, therapists and other professionals to support pupil progress.
  • Monitor, assess and celebrate individual achievements while adapting strategies for learning.
  • Build positive relationships with pupils, families and colleagues to ensure the best support for learners.

SEN Teacher - Full-Time September Start Tameside

Tradewind Recruitment is proud to be recruiting on behalf of a fantastic secondary special school in Tameside, which is looking to appoint a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teacher to join its team on a full-time basis from September for the full academic year.

This rewarding role involves teaching secondary-aged pupils with a range of additional learning needs, including students with autism and communication needs. The successful candidate will be passionate about creating engaging, personalised learning experiences that enable every pupil to develop academically, socially and emotionally.

The Role

As an SEN Teacher, you will:

  • Plan and deliver creative, differentiated lessons tailored to meet individual learning needs.
  • Teach and support secondary-aged pupils with a range of special educational needs, including Down syndrome and complex needs.
  • Foster a safe, nurturing and inclusive classroom where every student can thrive.
  • Work collaboratively with teaching assistants, therapists and other professionals to support pupil progress.
  • Monitor, assess and celebrate individual achievements while adapting teaching strategies to maximise learning outcomes.
  • Build positive relationships with pupils, families and colleagues to ensure the best possible support for every learner.
The Ideal Candidate

The successful applicant will:

  • Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
  • Have experience teaching pupils with special educational needs, or demonstrate a genuine passion for working within an SEN setting.
  • Have an understanding of how to adapt teaching to meet the needs of learners with Down syndrome and other additional needs.
  • Be patient, resilient and committed to helping every pupil reach their full potential.
  • Possess excellent communication, organisation and teamwork skills.
