Tradewind Recruitment is seeking a dedicated SEN Teacher for a secondary special school in Tameside, starting September 2026 for the full academic year.

You will teach secondary-aged pupils with autism and communication needs, delivering differentiated lessons and collaborating with TAs, therapists and other professionals to support pupil progress.

SEN Teacher - Full-Time | September Start | Tameside

Tradewind Recruitment is proud to be recruiting on behalf of a fantastic secondary special school in Tameside, which is looking to appoint a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teacher to join its team on a full-time basis from September for the full academic year. This rewarding role involves teaching secondary-aged pupils with a range of additional learning needs, including students with autism and communication needs. The successful candidate will be passionate about creating engaging, personalised learning experiences that enable every pupil to develop academically, socially and emotionally.

The Role
  • Plan and deliver creative, differentiated lessons tailored to meet individual learning needs.
  • Teach and support secondary-aged pupils with a range of special educational needs, including Down syndrome and complex needs.
  • Foster a safe, nurturing and inclusive classroom where every student can thrive.
  • Work collaboratively with teaching assistants, therapists and other professionals to support pupil progress.
  • Monitor, assess and celebrate individual achievements while adapting teaching strategies to maximise learning outcomes.

The Ideal Candidate
  • Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
  • Have experience teaching pupils with special educational needs, or demonstrate a genuine passion for working within an SEN setting.
  • Have an understanding of how to adapt teaching to meet the needs of learners with Down syndrome and other additional needs.
  • Be patient, resilient and committed to helping every pupil reach their full potential.
  • Possess excellent communication, organisation and teamwork skills.
