Job summary

Tradewind Recruitment is seeking an SEN Teacher for a secondary special school in Bury for a full-time post from September 2026, covering the full academic year. The role focuses on teaching secondary pupils with autism and other learning needs, delivering engaging, personalised lessons and collaborating with support staff.

The ideal candidate will be QTS accredited with experience in SEN settings, an ability to differentiate instructions, and strong communication and teamwork skills.

Qualifications

• Hold QTS or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
• Experience teaching pupils with special educational needs.
• Ability to adapt teaching for learners with Down syndrome and other needs.
• Patient, resilient and committed to helping every pupil reach potential.
• Excellent communication, organisation and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver differentiated lessons tailored to meet individual learning needs.
• Teach and support secondary pupils with SEN, including Down syndrome.
• Foster an inclusive, safe classroom where every student can thrive.
• Collaborate with teaching assistants, therapists and professionals to support pupil progress.
• Monitor, assess and celebrate individual progress while adapting teaching strategies.
• Build positive relationships with pupils, families and colleagues to ensure the best support for every learner.
