Job summary

Tradewind Recruitment is assisting a fantastic secondary special school in Bury to recruit a dedicated SEN Teacher for a full-time role starting September 2026 for the full academic year.

The post involves teaching secondary pupils with a range of additional learning needs, including autism and communication difficulties. The successful candidate will plan engaging, personalised lessons, collaborate with teaching assistants and therapists, and monitor progress to maximise pupil outcomes.

Qualifications

• Hold QTS or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
• Experience teaching pupils with special educational needs or a genuine passion for SEN.
• Ability to adapt teaching for learners with Down syndrome and other needs.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver creative, differentiated lessons tailored to individual learning needs.
• Teach and support secondary pupils with a range of SEN, including autism.
• Foster a safe, inclusive classroom where every student can thrive.
• Collaborate with teaching assistants, therapists and other professionals.
• Monitor, assess and celebrate progress while adapting strategies to maximise learning.
• Build positive relationships with pupils, families and colleagues.
