• IEP/EHCP Implementation: Proven track record of effectively translating Individual Education Plans (IEPs) or Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) into classroom practice.
• Behaviour Management: Strong, positive, and proactive behaviour management strategies suitable for pupils with complex needs.
• Assessment for Learning: Skill in using formative and summative assessment to inform the immediate next steps for lower‑ability learners.
• Curriculum Adaptation: Expertise in adapting core subject curricula (Maths and English) to suit various learning styles and cognitive abilities.
• Empathy and Patience: A high degree of empathy, resilience, and unwavering patience.

Responsibilities

• To plan, prepare, and deliver high‑quality, inspiring lessons in Maths and English for designated lower ability groups.
• To create a safe, stimulating, and supportive learning environment that promotes inclusion and positive behaviour.
• To regularly assess, monitor, and record student progress, providing clear, constructive feedback.
• To contribute to the creation and regular review of IEPs/EHCPs in conjunction with the SENCO and external professionals.
• To manage and direct the work of Teaching Assistants allocated to the class or specific students.
• To maintain comprehensive and accurate records of student attendance, attainment, and well‑being.
• To liaise proactively with parents/carers regarding student progress and well‑being.
• To attend and contribute to department meetings, whole‑school training, and pastoral events.
• To effectively utilise specialist equipment and resources to aid student learning.
• To adhere to all school policies and procedures, particularly those relating to safeguarding and child protection.
