Job summary

Educato Limited is recruiting a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant for a welcoming primary school in Openshaw, Manchester, starting September 2026 on a full-time, long-term basis until the end of the academic year.

You will support pupils with SEN, work closely with the class teacher and SENCO, and help learners access and participate in activities within an inclusive classroom environment.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting children with SEN in a school setting.
• Calm, patient, and compassionate approach with pupils.
• Eligibility to work in the UK and willingness to obtain a DBS.
• Desirable SEN or teaching assistant qualifications.

SEN Teaching Assistant

Location: Openshaw, Manchester (M11)

Contract: Long-term, ongoing

Full time/Part time: Full time

Pay: £110-£115 per day

Start date: September 2026

Expected End date: End of the academic year

Hours: 8:00am-3:30pm

A welcoming and supportive primary school in Openshaw (M11) is seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team from September on a full-time, long-term basis until the end of the academic year.

The successful candidate will provide targeted support to pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN), helping them access learning, develop confidence and build their independence within a nurturing and inclusive classroom environment.

You will work closely with the class teacher, SENCO and wider school team to provide personalised support and help pupils overcome barriers to learning and reach their full potential.

Key Responsibilities

• Providing 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with SEN
• Supporting pupils to access and engage with classroom learning
• Adapting activities and resources to meet individual learning needs
• Supporting pupils with their communication, social and emotional development
• Assisting with emotional regulation and positive behaviour strategies
• Supporting the implementation of individual support plans and EHCP targets
• Encouraging pupils to develop independence, confidence and positive relationships
• Creating a calm, safe and inclusive learning environment
• Working collaboratively with teachers, the SENCO and other support staff
• Supporting pupils throughout the school day, including break and lunchtime

• Have experience supporting children or young people with SEN, ideally within a school environment
• Be calm, patient, resilient and compassionate
• Have a nurturing and non-judgemental approach
• Be confident supporting pupils with a range of additional needs
• Have strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Be able to build positive and trusting relationships with pupils
• Be proactive and adaptable when responding to individual pupil needs
• Have full-time availability from September
• Hold a valid Child Workforce DBS or be willing to obtain one
• Have the right to work in the UK
• Relevant SEN, Teaching Assistant or Supporting Teaching and Learning qualifications are desirable
