Job summary

Monarch Education is recruiting a committed SEN Teaching Assistant for an outstanding secondary SEN school in Oldham for the 2026/27 academic year.

The role supports pupils with a range of additional learning needs, working with teachers to deliver engaging lessons and small group interventions. This is a long-term, full-time position starting September 2026, with a commitment through the academic year. Competitive daily rate of .24 per day.

Qualifications

  • Experience supporting children or young people in educational or care settings.
  • Patience, resilience and proactive attitude.
  • Comfort working with students with SEN including ASD, ADHD, SEMH.

Responsibilities

  • Provide tailored support to pupils with SEND.
  • Assist teachers in delivering engaging lessons.
  • Support students one-to-one and in small groups.
  • Encourage participation, confidence and independence.
  • Help manage classroom behaviour with positive reinforcement.

Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am - 3:30pm

A well-established Secondary SEN School in Oldham is seeking a committed and compassionate Teaching Assistant to support students with a range of additional learning needs throughout the 2026/27 academic year.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide tailored support to pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)
  • Assist teachers in delivering engaging and accessible lessons
  • Support students on a one-to-one basis and in small intervention groups
  • Encourage student participation, confidence and independence
  • Help manage classroom behaviour through positive reinforcement strategies
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with students to support their development and wellbeing
  • Contribute to creating an inclusive and positive learning environment
What We're Looking For

The successful candidate will:

  • Have experience supporting children or young people in an educational, care, youth work or support setting
  • Demonstrate patience, resilience and a proactive attitude
  • Be confident working with students with a range of SEN, including ASD, ADHD and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs
  • Possess strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Be committed to helping students achieve their individual goals
  • Hold relevant qualifications or transferable experience (desirable but not essential)
