Job summary

Teaching Personnel Ltd. is seeking a dedicated SEN Learning Support Mentor to join a specialist secondary provision in the Trafford area. You will provide tailored 1:1 and small-group support for students with additional needs, helping them access lessons and develop life and social skills.

The role is full-time, term-time only, with competitive weekly pay and ongoing support from a dedicated consultant. Enhanced DBS is required or willingness to obtain one; safeguarding is a core expectation.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children, young people, or vulnerable individuals.
• A genuine interest in SEND, SEMH, and inclusive education.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting student wellbeing.
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.

Responsibilities

• Provide tailored 1:1 and small-group support to students with additional needs.
• Support pupils in accessing lessons across a broad and engaging curriculum.
• Build positive, trusting relationships that promote confidence and engagement.
• Encourage independence, emotional regulation, and social development.
• Support the implementation of EHCP targets and personalised intervention plans.
• Use positive behaviour strategies to help students overcome barriers to learning.
• Assist students with communication, life skills, and preparation for adulthood.
• Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and support staff to achieve the best outcomes for pupils.
• Monitor progress and contribute to student reviews and target setting.
• Support students during breaktimes, enrichment activities, educational visits, and vocational learning opportunities.
• Safeguard and promote the welfare of all children and young people.
