Job summary

Teaching Personnel is seeking a Learning Mentor for a specialist SEN School & College in Bury. The role is full-time, supporting students aged 11-19 with diverse needs across secondary and post-16 education.

You'll build relationships, provide 1:1 and small group mentoring, support behaviour and social development, and collaborate with teaching staff to create an inclusive learning environment.

Qualifications

• Experience working with young people in education, care, youth work, residential care, support work, or similar settings.
• Patient, empathetic and resilient approach.
• Confidence supporting individuals with additional needs and challenging behaviours.
• Willingness to provide personal care when required.

Responsibilities

• Build positive and trusting relationships with young people.
• Provide 1:1 and small group mentoring support tailored to individual needs.
• Support students with social, emotional, behavioural, and learning barriers.
• Encourage positive behaviour and emotional regulation strategies.
• Assist students to develop communication, social, and life skills.
• Promote confidence, self-esteem, and independence.
• Support students during lessons, enrichment activities, and transitions throughout the day.
• Provide personal care when required, ensuring dignity and respect at all times.
• Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, support staff, and families.
• Help create a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment.
