Special Educational Needs in Guildford is seeking a dedicated SEN Learning Support Assistant to support students with Autism, SEMH and other barriers to learning in a therapeutic education setting.

You will work closely with teachers and therapists to provide one-to-one and small group support, foster emotional wellbeing and help pupils access personalised learning programs. This role offers a rewarding chance to make a lasting difference in the lives of young people.

Qualifications

  • Passionate about supporting children and young people with Special Educational Needs.
  • Resilient and able to remain calm in challenging situations.
  • A strong communicator and team player.
  • Interested in understanding behaviour and the reasons behind it.
  • Committed to helping young people develop academically, socially and emotionally.
  • Previous experience supporting children or young people with Autism, SEMH, behavioural needs or other additional needs would be beneficial, although the right attitude, transferable skills and genuine passion for supporting young people will also be highly valued

Responsibilities

  • Supporting children and young people with Autism, SEMH needs and other additional learning needs
  • Providing one-to-one and small group support
  • Helping students to access personalised learning programmes
  • Supporting emotional regulation, wellbeing and positive behaviour
  • Encouraging independence, confidence and social development
  • Working collaboratively with teachers, therapists and other members of the wider team
