Job summary

Long Term Futures is seeking a compassionate SEN Learning Support Assistant to join a Solihull primary school from September 2026. You will provide 1:1 and small-group support within the SEN Hub, helping KS1/KS2 pupils with SEMH needs and EHCP targets.

You will work with the SENCO, teachers and pastoral team to foster emotional regulation, positive behaviours and inclusive access to the curriculum in a nurturing environment.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting children with SEN, including SEMH, in primary or specialist settings.
• Proven ability to deliver 1:1 and small-group interventions.
• Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills.
• Understanding of EHCPs and personalised learning strategies.

Responsibilities

• Provide tailored 1:1 and small-group support within the school's SEN Hub
• Support KS1 and KS2 pupils with SEMH and additional learning needs
• Deliver targeted interventions linked to EHCP outcomes
• Support pupils with emotional regulation and behaviour management
• Help pupils access the curriculum and reintegrate into mainstream lessons
• Collaborate with the SENCO, class teachers, pastoral staff and external professionals
• Promote confidence, independence and positive relationships throughout the day
• Create a calm, structured, and inclusive learning environment

The Opportunity:

Long Term Futures is seeking a compassionate and proactive SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in Solihull from September 2026.

This rewarding role will be based within the school's dedicated SEN Hub, supporting pupils across KS1 and KS2 with a range of additional needs, with a particular focus on Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. Working closely with the SENCO, class teachers, and pastoral team, you will provide 1:1 and small-group support, helping pupils regulate their emotions, develop positive behaviours, and successfully access the curriculum.

Your Key Responsibilities:

• Provide tailored 1:1 and small-group support within the school's dedicated SEN Hub

• Support pupils with emotional regulation, behaviour management, and social development
• Help pupils successfully access the curriculum and reintegrate into mainstream lessons where appropriate

• Promote confidence, independence, and positive relationships throughout the school day
• Create a calm, structured, and inclusive learning environment that enables every pupil to succeed

Requirements:

• Previous experience supporting children with SEN, particularly SEMH, within a primary or specialist setting
• Experience delivering 1:1 and small-group interventions
• Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills
• Understanding of EHCPs and personalised learning strategies
• Patient, resilient, and nurturing approach to supporting children with additional needs
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills
• Commitment to safeguarding and inclusive education
