Job summary

Long Term Futures Ltd. seeks a compassionate SEN Learning Support Assistant to join a Solihull primary school from September 2026. You will work in the SEN Hub across KS1 and KS2, delivering 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with SEMH and other needs, helping them access the curriculum.

Collaborating with the SENCO and pastoral team, you will promote positive behaviours, emotional regulation and inclusive learning, contributing to a nurturing school environment.

Qualifications

  • Experience supporting children with SEN, especially SEMH.
  • Experience delivering 1:1 and small-group interventions.
  • Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills.
  • Understanding of EHCPs and personalised learning strategies.
  • Patient, resilient and nurturing approach.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork.

Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and small-group support within the SEN Hub.

The Opportunity:

Long Term Futures is seeking a compassionate and proactive SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in Solihull from September 2026.

This rewarding role will be based within the school's dedicated SEN Hub, supporting pupils across KS1 and KS2 with a range of additional needs, with a particular focus on Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. Working closely with the SENCO, class teachers, and pastoral team, you will provide 1:1 and small-group support, helping pupils regulate their emotions, develop positive behaviours, and successfully access the curriculum.

Your Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide tailored 1:1 and small-group support within the school's dedicated SEN Hub
  • Support pupils across KS1 and KS2 with SEMH and additional learning needs
  • Deliver targeted interventions linked to EHCP outcomes and personalised learning plans
  • Support pupils with emotional regulation, behaviour management, and social development
  • Help pupils successfully access the curriculum and reintegrate into mainstream lessons where appropriate
  • Work collaboratively with the SENCO, class teachers, pastoral staff, and external professionals
  • Promote confidence, independence, and positive relationships throughout the school day
  • Create a calm, structured, and inclusive learning environment that enables every pupil to succeed
Requirements:
  • Previous experience supporting children with SEN, particularly SEMH, within a primary or specialist setting
  • Experience delivering 1:1 and small-group interventions
  • Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills
  • Understanding of EHCPs and personalised learning strategies
  • Patient, resilient, and nurturing approach to supporting children with additional needs
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
