Job summary

Teaching Personnel is seeking a compassionate SEN Inclusion Support Mentor to join a specialist school in the Trafford area. You will provide tailored 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with complex needs and partner with teachers, therapists and pastoral teams to deliver personalised learning.

The role is full-time but term-time only, with competitive weekly pay through Teaching Personnel and opportunities for CPD.

Qualifications

  • Experience with children or vulnerable individuals in education or related settings.
  • Genuine interest in SEND and inclusive education.
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.

Responsibilities

  • Provide tailored 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with additional needs.
  • Support students during classroom learning, intervention sessions and enrichment activities.
  • Promote inclusion and ensure all pupils can engage fully in school life.
  • Assist with communication, social interaction, emotional regulation and behavioural development.
  • Support EHCP targets and individual learning plans.
  • Encourage independence, confidence and self-esteem.
  • Collaborate with teachers, therapists and pastoral teams to deliver outstanding support.
  • Apply positive behaviour strategies to support engagement and learning.
  • Assist pupils with personal care where required.
  • Record observations and contribute to pupil progress reviews.
  • Maintain safeguarding and pupil wellbeing at all times.

Teaching Personnel is seeking a compassionate, enthusiastic, and motivated SEN Inclusion Support Mentor to join a highly respected specialist school in the Trafford area. This outstanding provision supports children and young people aged 2-19 with a wide range of complex needs and is known for its inclusive ethos, exceptional facilities, and commitment to helping every pupil achieve their full potential.

The school supports pupils with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD), Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN), physical disabilities, sensory impairments, complex medical needs, and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. Staff work collaboratively to create a nurturing, engaging, and highly personalised learning environment where students are encouraged to develop confidence, independence, communication skills, and lifelong learning abilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide tailored 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with additional needs.

  • Experience working with children, young people, or vulnerable individuals in education, care, youth work, support work, residential care, or similar settings.
  • A genuine interest in SEND and inclusive education.
  • Strong interpersonal and behaviour management skills.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.
