Job summary

Education Authority (Northern Ireland) seeks a Classroom Assistant – Special Educational Needs to support pupils with learning needs, both in class and in outreach settings. You will assist with curriculum access, personal care, and implementation of Education/Care Plans under supervision.

The role requires empathy, confidentiality, and strong communication, with a focus on teamwork. A Level 2 qualification and experience in a learning environment are essential, along with safeguarding

Qualifications

• Hold a minimum of a Level 2 qualification in a relevant area from a recognised accredited awarding body.
• AND Have a minimum of 6 weeks experience in a formal learning environment or placement.
• Desirable criteria may include Level 3 qualification and Level 2 English/Maths passes.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the educational support and care of pupil(s) with SEN in the classroom.
• Develop understanding of pupil needs and support inclusion in mainstream settings.
• Assist with Education Plans and Care Plans; participate in evaluation and encouraged pupil participation.
• Support in moving pupils and managing behavioural aspects as directed.
• Provide general classroom assistance, maintain records, and support ICT/learning resources.
