Job summary

Education Authority invites applications for a part-time Classroom Assistant (Special Educational Needs) to support learning in a designated class. The role is 2 x 27.5 hours per week with flexible working arrangements during school holidays.

Under the supervision of teaching staff, you will assist with instruction, behaviour management, and the preparation of teaching materials. Experience in a learning environment and a Level 2 qualification are essential.

Qualifications

• Hold a minimum Level 2 (or equivalent) qualification in a relevant area from a recognised awarding body.
• Minimum 6 weeks experience in a formal learning environment or as part of a placement.
• Demonstrate knowledge of health and safety requirements.
• Understand development needs of children and young people.
• Be able to plan, organise and communicate effectively in a team setting.

Responsibilities

• Assist the teacher in the efficient running of the class.
• Supervise groups or individuals during activities and ensure a safe learning environment.
• Support administration tasks and the preparation of materials and displays.
• Provide continuity of adult care, supervise play, cloakrooms and toileting as needed.
• Assist with medicines administration and minor first aid where required.
