Job summary

Education Authority (Northern Ireland) is recruiting a Classroom Assistant – Additional Special Educational Needs to work in a school setting. You will assist with classroom support, care plans, and educational activities for pupils with SEN under the guidance of the class teacher and outreach staff.

The role involves safeguarding duties, assisting with inclusion and individual pupil support, and carrying out routine administration and supervision tasks as required.

Qualifications

• Hold a minimum of Level 2 qualification in a relevant area from a recognised awarding body.
• Qualification must be at Certificate or Diploma level; Award level is not acceptable.
• 6 weeks experience in a formal learning environment or as part of your level 2 qualification.
• 12 months’ experience in a formal learning environment (if applicable).
• Knowledge of health and safety requirements, child development, and safeguarding.

Responsibilities

• Assist with classroom administration and record keeping.
• Support with implementation of Education Plans and care plans.
• Help pupils access the curriculum and participate in activities.
• Support pupils with special educational needs and behavioural management.
• Provide supervision and assist with off-site activities as directed.
