Job summary

The Education Authority in Bangor is seeking a Classroom Assistant – Special Educational Needs to support pupils under the direction of the class teacher and outreach staff. The role focuses on enabling access to the curriculum, assisting with personal care, and contributing to inclusive practice within the school.

The candidate will assist with delivering planned support, attend to pupil needs, and work flexibly across posts as needed to ensure a safe and stimulating learning environment.

Qualifications

• Demonstrate knowledge of health and safety requirements.
• Understand development needs of children and young people.
• Ability to plan, organize and follow systems and plans.

Responsibilities

• Assist with SEN pupil(s) in the classroom and activities.
• Support with Education Plan/Care Plan and evaluation.
• Promote pupil inclusion in mainstream settings.
• Assist with movement and supervision around school and transport.
• Support administration and resource preparation as required.
