Education Authority (Northern Ireland) invites applications for a Classroom Assistant – Additional Special Educational Needs. You will work under the direction of teaching staff to support pupils with SEN in both mainstream and specialist settings, promoting inclusive, child-centred learning.

Responsibilities include assisting with learning, personal care where needed, implementing Education Plans, and ensuring a safe, supportive environment.

Qualifications

• Hold a minimum of a Level 2 (or equivalent) qualification in a relevant area obtained through a recognised accredited awarding body. Qualification must be at Certificate or Diploma level.
• AND Have a minimum of 6 weeks experience in a formal learning environment or placement.
• OR Have a minimum of 12 months’ experience of working in a formal learning environment.
• Demonstrate health and safety awareness, development needs of children and safeguarding principles.

Responsabilités

• Assist with educational support and the care of pupils with special educational needs under teacher direction.
• Develop understanding of pupil needs to support learning and inclusion in mainstream classrooms.
• Assist with authorised programmes and participate in evaluation and progress of pupils.
• Contribute to a safe, caring learning environment and maintain confidentiality.
• Prepare resources and supervise activities, including off-site duties when required.
