Job summary

Education Authority (Northern Ireland) invites applications for a Classroom Assistant - Special Educational Needs. You will support pupils with SEN under the guidance of the class teacher, helping them access the curriculum, manage routines, and participate in activities.

A flexible, compassionate approach is essential to enable pupils’ learning and development. The role emphasises safeguarding, teamwork, and child-centred support.

Qualifications

• Level 2 qualification required or equivalent.
• 6 weeks of experience in a learning environment or placement relevant to the role.
• OR 12 months’ experience in a formal learning environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist with SEN pupil(s) support and care inside and outside the classroom.
• Support access to the curriculum and participation in Education/ Care Plans.
• Contribute to inclusive education and the pupil’s independence.
• Assist with safeguarding, safety, and confidentiality.
• Provide class administration support and resource preparation.
