Job summary

Teaching Personnel is recruiting SEMH Teaching Support Staff to assist children with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs in Chorley and Skelmersdale. In this role, you will provide essential 1:1 and small group support, helping young people overcome barriers to learning.

Qualifications

  • Experience in education, care, youth work, or mental health support.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with students.
  • Experience in behaviour management and emotional regulation.

Are you passionate about supporting children and young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs?

We are currently recruiting SEMH Teaching Support Staff to work across a range of specialist schools and alternative provisions throughout Chorley and Skelmersdale.

This is a rewarding opportunity for individuals who are committed to helping young people overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential.

Responsibilities
  • Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with SEMH needs.
  • Build positive relationships and act as a positive role model.
  • Support pupils with emotional regulation and behaviour management.
  • Assist teaching staff in delivering engaging lessons and activities.
  • Help create a safe, nurturing and inclusive learning environment.
  • Support students both inside and outside of the classroom.
Desired qualifications and experience
  • Experience working with children or young people with SEMH, SEND, challenging behaviour or additional needs.
  • A background in education, care, youth work, coaching, residential support, mental health support or similar sectors.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • A calm, patient and resilient approach.
  • A genuine passion for supporting vulnerable young people.
