Job summary

Teaching Personnel is seeking compassionate Behaviour & Pastoral Support Assistants to work full-time across a range of schools in Chorley and Skelmersdale, starting in September 2026. The roles are term-time only with a September start and competitive salary dependent on experience.

You will support children facing SEMH challenges, help build positive relationships, and work with teachers to create safe, inclusive learning environments.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with children or vulnerable individuals.
  • Calm, patient and empathetic approach.
  • Strong behaviour management and communication skills.
  • Ability to build positive relationships and maintain professional boundaries.
  • Genuine passion for supporting pupils with additional needs.
  • Experience within education, youth work, care or similar settings is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with SEMH needs.
  • Build positive and trusting relationships with students.
  • Support pupils in managing their emotions and behaviour effectively.
  • Assist teachers in creating a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment.
  • Encourage pupil engagement, attendance and participation in lessons.
  • Implement behaviour support strategies and individual support plans.
  • Act as a positive role model, promoting confidence, resilience, and independence.

Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience

We are currently seeking compassionate, resilient, and dedicated Behaviour & Pastoral Support Assistants to work on a full-time basis across a range of schools in Chorley and Skelmersdale, starting in September.

This is a rewarding opportunity for individuals who are passionate about supporting children and young people who may face social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) challenges. You will play a key role in helping pupils overcome barriers to learning, build positive relationships, and achieve their full potential both inside and outside the classroom.

Responsibilities
  • Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with SEMH needs
  • Build positive and trusting relationships with students
  • Support pupils in managing their emotions and behaviour effectively
