Job summary

Teaching Personnel is seeking a dedicated Behaviour Support Worker to assist pupils across SEMH schools in Salford. You will build relationships, help students manage emotions, and deliver targeted interventions to improve behaviour and wellbeing.

The role supports students in Primary and Secondary settings, with early career and ongoing CPD opportunities. A DBS check is required, and all pay is processed weekly via PAYE.

Qualifications

  • Experience with SEMH needs and challenging behaviour.
  • Calm, patient, and resilient approach.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • DBS Update Service or willingness to obtain one.

Behaviour Support Worker

SEMH Primary & Secondary Schools | Salford | Full-Time | Teaching Personnel

Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of young people? Teaching Personnel is seeking dedicated Behaviour Support Workers to support pupils across a range of Primary and Secondary SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) schools in the Salford area. You could be working with students who experience anxiety, ADHD, autism, trauma‑related behaviours, attachment difficulties, emotional regulation challenges, or low self‑esteem, helping them to overcome barriers and achieve success both in and out of the classroom.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Build positive and meaningful relationships with pupils, acting as a trusted role model.
  • Support students to manage emotions, develop resilience, and engage positively in learning.
  • Deliver tailored interventions focused on behaviour, social skills, confidence, and wellbeing.
  • Help create a safe, nurturing, and engaging learning environment.
  • Work alongside teachers and pastoral teams to celebrate progress and support individual development.
  • Encourage participation in lessons, enrichment activities, and personal achievement goals.
What We're Looking For
  • Previous experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs, challenging behaviour, SEND, youth work, care work, or similar backgrounds.
  • A calm, patient, and resilient approach.
  • Strong communication and relationship‑building skills.
  • An Enhanced DBS Certificate registered on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.
  • A genuine passion for supporting young people to reach their full potential.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay.
