Job summary

Teaching Personnel are seeking a compassionate, resilient, and motivated Student Engagement & Behaviour Mentor to join a specialist alternative provision in the Bolton area. This setting serves students aged 11-16 who require additional support to access education, with small classes and a nurturing environment designed to rebuild confidence and life skills.

The role focuses on helping students regulate emotions, engage in learning, and develop social skills to thrive in school and beyond.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting children or young people with SEMH or behavioural needs.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• Calm, patient, and resilient approach.
• Right to work in the UK and enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain).

Responsibilities

• Supporting students on a 1:1 and small-group basis.
• Building strong, trusting relationships with young people.
• Helping pupils manage their emotions and behaviours positively.
• Promoting engagement in lessons and educational activities.
• Managing and de-escalating challenging behaviours using positive intervention strategies.
• Maintaining accurate records of pupil progress and wellbeing.
