Job summary

Teaching Personnel in Bolton is seeking a resilient Behaviour Support Assistant to join a specialist educational setting, supporting pupils with SEMH and challenging behaviour.

You will provide 1:1 and small-group support, help pupils engage with learning and routines, and assist with de-escalation when pupils are distressed. You will build positive relationships and collaborate with staff to help pupils progress.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting children or young people with SEMH, behavioural or additional needs.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with SEMH and behavioural needs.
• Support pupils to engage positively with learning, routines and school life.
• Help manage behaviour using positive and consistent approaches.
• Support with de-escalation when pupils become dysregulated or distressed.
• Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils and act as a positive role model.
• Encourage pupils to develop confidence, resilience and appropriate behaviours.
• Work closely with teaching, pastoral and support staff to provide consistent support.
• Help pupils overcome barriers to learning and make progress.
