Job summary

Teaching Personnel is seeking a dedicated Youth Engagement Mentor to support students aged 11-16 with SEMH needs in Trafford. The role focuses on mentoring inside and outside the classroom, helping students regulate emotions and re-engage with education.

You will work in a specialist setting with small class sizes, collaborating with teachers and pastoral staff to create a supportive, inclusive environment and help learners build confidence and life skills.

Qualifications

• Experience working with young people in education or youth settings.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• Calm, patient and resilient approach.
• DBS on Update Service or willing to obtain one.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small group mentoring support.
• Build positive, trusting relationships with students.
• Support emotional regulation and positive behaviour strategies.
• Encourage engagement with learning and school activities.
• Help students develop confidence, resilience, and social skills.
• Work alongside teachers and pastoral teams to support individual student needs.
• Promote a safe, positive, and inclusive learning environment.
