Job summary

TeacherActive is recruiting a Pastoral Assistant for an alternative provision in Cradley Heath, supporting pupils aged 11-16 with SEMH needs. The role focuses on emotional wellbeing and behaviour support rather than academic tutoring, with a Monday–Friday schedule and ongoing review.

The ideal candidate will have SEMH experience, safeguarding awareness, and strong communication skills to build positive relationships with staff and pupils.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting young people with SEMH needs or pastoral needs.
• Familiarity with positive behaviour support and emotional regulation.
• Good safeguarding awareness and protective welfare practices.

Responsibilities

• Support pupils with SEMH needs and emotional wellbeing.
• Promote emotional wellbeing and positive relationships with pupils and staff.
• Manage challenging behaviour and apply PBS strategies in daily routines.
