Job summary

Cover People, Manchester are recruiting a Pastoral Support Assistant for a specialist secondary SEMH school in Tameside. You’ll work with small groups of pupils, supporting their behaviour, wellbeing and engagement while helping them access a practical, vocational curriculum.

There is potential for temp-to-perm for the right person. The role offers competitive daily rates with weekly PAYE and holiday pay accrued.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting young people with SEMH or challenging behaviour.
• Experience in education, youth work, mentoring, care or similar.

Responsibilities

• Build strong, positive relationships with secondary-aged pupils.
• Provide pastoral, emotional and behavioural support.
• Support small groups and individual pupils.
• Help deliver interventions, activities and enrichment.
• Encourage positive behaviour and engagement.
• Support pupils to develop confidence, resilience and independence.
• Help pupils access practical and vocational learning.
• Work closely with teachers and pastoral staff.
