Job summary

Remedy Education are currently recruiting for a Mental Health & Wellbeing Practitioner / Mentor to join a specialist SEMH school in Tower Hamlets, East London. You will provide 1:1 and small-group mentoring to pupils with SEMH needs and help them regulate emotions and engage with education.

The ideal candidate will have experience in schools or similar settings, strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills, safeguarding knowledge, and a calm, patient, resilient approach.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting children or young people with SEMH needs.
• Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills.
• A calm, patient and resilient approach.
• Good safeguarding knowledge.
• Experience within a school, PRU, alternative provision, youth work, mental health or similar setting.
• Experience as a Learning Mentor, Behaviour Mentor, Pastoral Support Worker, Youth Worker or Mental Health Practitioner would be highly desirable.
• An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small-group mentoring
• Support pupils with emotional regulation, anxiety and challenging behaviour
• Build strong, trusting relationships with young people
• Deliver wellbeing and pastoral interventions
• Support pupils during difficult or dysregulated periods
• Work closely with teaching, pastoral and safeguarding teams
• Help improve engagement, attendance and behaviour
• Maintain appropriate safeguarding and intervention records
