Job summary

Protocol Education is seeking a dedicated Behaviour & Emotional Wellbeing Mentor for an SEMH school in Epping. The role involves supporting pupils on a 1:1 and small-group basis within a trauma-informed environment.

You will help manage behaviours, promote positive choices, and model calm, supportive interactions throughout the school day. The ideal candidate has experience with SEMH/SEND, youth work or mentoring, and demonstrates resilience, patience, and strong communication.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children or young people with SEMH, SEND, youth work, care or mentoring backgrounds.
• Patient, resilient, and confident in managing challenging situations.
• Understand the importance of consistency, boundaries, and relationship-building.

Responsibilities

• Work in classroom and around the wider school, supporting pupils 1:1 and in small groups.
• Help manage challenging behaviours and promote positive choices.
• De-escalate situations and act as a positive role model for students who need additional guidance.
• Support pupils to re-engage with learning and develop emotional regulation strategies.
