Job summary

Teaching Personnel is seeking a dedicated Behaviour & Wellbeing Mentor to join a specialist SEMH secondary school in the Trafford area. This role focusses on supporting students aged 11-16 with SEMH needs, including anxiety, trauma, and behavioural challenges.

You'll deliver 1:1 mentoring, run small-group sessions, and work with teaching staff to promote emotional development, resilience, and positive engagement with learning in a supportive, safe environment.

Qualifications

• Experience with SEMH, behavioural needs, or vulnerable learners.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
• Calm, patient, resilient, and positive in challenging situations.
• Knowledge of trauma-informed and restorative approaches to behaviour.

Responsibilities

• Deliver 1:1 mentoring sessions and small-group interventions.
• Build positive relationships with students based on trust.
• Support pupils in managing emotions and behaviours.
• Promote resilience, self-confidence and personal growth.
• Help students overcome barriers to learning and improve engagement.
• Assist with behaviour support plans.
• Support pupils during lessons, breaks and transitions.
• Monitor progress and provide feedback to staff.
• Encourage attendance and positive attitudes toward education.
• Contribute to a safe, inclusive learning environment.
