Job summary

Principal Education is seeking Behaviour Mentors to support pupils with SEMH in Havering schools, PRUs and alternative provision. You will work 1:1 or in very small groups, building trust and helping pupils re-engage with learning.

No teaching qualification required; you must stay calm when tensions rise, be reliable and able to travel to Havering. Roles are full-time, term-time only, with weekly pay and clear progression opportunities into SEMH teaching or pastoral leadership.

Qualifications

• Right to work in the UK.
• Ability to stay calm when situations escalates.
• Experience with challenging behaviour in any setting.
• Patience, empathy and resilience.
• Reliability and presence for pupils.
• Enhanced DBS with Update Service or willingness to apply.
• Overseas police clearance if lived abroad recently.
• Resident in or able to travel to Havering.

Responsibilities

• Work 1:1 or in small groups with pupils who have SEMH needs.
• Spot triggers, de-escalate and help pupils return to learning.
• Build relationships with the same pupils week after week.
