Job summary

Education First Recruitment is seeking an experienced Behaviour Mentor to join a specialist SEMH school in Bromley starting ASAP. The role focuses on 1:1 support, helping students manage SEMH, regulate emotions and engage with education.

You'll work with students with SEMH, ASD and ADHD in a long-term position, collaborating with teachers and the pastoral/SEN team to foster positive behaviour, resilience and independence.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience working with children or young people with SEN/SEND or SEMH.
  • Experience supporting students with challenging behaviour.
  • Experience working with SEMH, ASD and ADHD.
  • Experience within an SEMH school, SEN school, PRU, alternative provision or similar setting.
  • Experience providing 1:1 behavioural, pastoral or emotional support.
  • The ability to remain composed when managing challenging situations.

Responsibilities

  • Provide dedicated 1:1 support to students both inside and outside the classroom
  • Support students with SEMH, ASD, ADHD and challenging behaviour
  • Support students with emotional regulation and behavioural difficulties and develop positive behaviour strategies
  • Build positive, trusting and consistent relationships with students
  • Encourage students to develop confidence, resilience and independence
  • Use appropriate de-escalation and behaviour management techniques
  • Help students remain engaged with lessons and access their learning
  • Provide support during breaks, lunch and less structured periods
  • Follow individual behaviour, learning and support plans
  • Work closely with teachers and the wider pastoral and SEN team
