Job summary

University of Reading is seeking a professional Security Control Room Officer to join our Security Services team. The role involves incident response, customer service, and operational support across the university estate, ensuring safety and wellbeing of students, staff and visitors.

You will work within the Security Control Room, monitor CCTV, manage access control, and support emergency procedures, with a strong focus on delivering a secure, welcoming campus environment.

Qualifications

• Control room experience including monitoring CCTV.
• Incident reporting experience.
• Experience in a customer-focused role.
• Willingness to work shifts.

Responsibilities

• Play an active role in all emergency procedures and incident response across the estate.
• Follow standard operating procedures and support incident management.
• Complete accurate incident reports using the IRIS system and maintain incident logs.
• Monitor CCTV and security systems and manage access control.
• Liaise with police and emergency services as required.
• Conduct regular campus patrols to deter crime and ensure welfare.
• Provide a visible security presence and assist staff, students and visitors.
