Job summary

Newcastle City Council Security Services seeks a vigilant Security Officer to monitor CCTV and security systems from the Security Control Room at Newcastle Civic Centre. You will coordinate responses, log incidents, and liaise with emergency services while ensuring high standards of customer service and adherence to security procedures.

Qualifications

• Experience in Security Control Room, Monitoring Centre or similar security monitoring environment.
• Proven ability to communicate effectively in high-pressure situations.
• Excellent spoken English with clear, professional communication.
• Strong written records skills with incident logs and reports.

Responsibilities

• Monitor CCTV, access control, intruder alarms and other security systems.
• Receive, assess and respond to incidents, alarms and emergency calls.
• Coordinate mobile response officers and support during incidents.
• Maintain accurate electronic and written records and incident reports.
• Liaise with emergency services, staff, contractors and the public.
• Deliver high standards of customer service while following security protocols.
