Job summary

Milk Education is seeking a Secondary SEND Teacher for a long-term position in Bradford, starting January 2027. The role focuses on delivering differentiated lessons for secondary pupils with SEND, creating a supportive and inclusive learning environment.

Qualifications

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
• Experience teaching secondary-aged pupils is desirable.
• Experience supporting pupils with SEND would be beneficial.
• Strong understanding of differentiated teaching and inclusive learning practices.
• Confident managing classroom behaviour and adapting teaching approaches to meet individual needs.
• Patient, resilient, empathetic and adaptable.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Passionate about helping young people overcome barriers to learning.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons tailored to the individual needs of secondary pupils.
• Adapt the curriculum to support pupils with SEND, including ASC, learning difficulties, communication needs and complex needs.
• Create a safe, structured and nurturing classroom environment that promotes learning, independence and wellbeing.
• Develop personalised learning plans and contribute towards EHCP outcomes.
• Work with Teaching Assistants and other professionals to ensure pupils receive appropriate support.
• Promote communication, social development, emotional regulation and independent living skills where appropriate.
• Monitor, assess and record pupil progress, celebrating individual achievements and milestones.
• Implement positive behaviour management strategies using a trauma-informed approach.
• Build positive relationships with pupils, families and external professionals.
• Encourage engagement and participation through creative, accessible teaching approaches.
