Job summary

Milk Education is recruiting a dedicated SEN Teacher to join schools in Middlesbrough from September 2026. You will provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEND, including ASC, ADHD, and Speech/Language needs, collaborating with teachers to implement personalised plans and EHCP targets.

You will foster a safe, inclusive environment, adapt activities to individual needs, and promote positive behaviour and wellbeing while building strong relationships with pupils, families, and staff.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience working with children or young people with SEND is desirable.
  • Experience in Primary School, SEN School, Alternative Provision, Care, Youth Work, or Support Worker setting is advantageous.
  • Understanding of Autism, ADHD, SEMH, Speech and Language needs, and challenging behaviour.
  • A patient, caring, and resilient approach.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and families.
  • A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs to achieve their full potential.

Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEND.
  • Support children with Autism (ASC), ADHD, Speech and Language needs, SEMH, and other needs.
  • Work with the class teacher and SENCO to implement personalised learning plans and EHCP targets.
  • Adapt learning activities to meet individual pupil needs.
  • Promote positive behaviour using consistent behaviour management strategies.
  • Encourage pupils' confidence, independence, and emotional wellbeing.
  • Build positive relationships with pupils, parents, carers, and colleagues.
  • Support pupils with classroom routines, learning interventions, and educational activities.
  • Assist with personal care where required.
  • Follow safeguarding and child protection procedures at all times.
