Secondary SEN Teaching Assistant – Immediate Start

Location: East London
Salary: £100+ per day (dependent on experience)
Start Date: ASAP
Contract: Temporary – Full-time, long-term

About the Role

We are looking for a committed SEN Teaching Assistant to join a vibrant secondary school in East London. This role focuses on supporting students with a range of mens Special Educational Needs (SEN), including Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) challenges. You will work closely with classroom teachers and the SENCO to provide tailored support that enables students to access learning andünderachieve their potential.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver 1:1 and small group interventions for students with SEN and SEMH needs
  • Support students in managing behaviour and emotional regulation
  • Assist with differentiation and scaffolding in lessons to aid academic progress
  • Collaborate with teachers, SENCO, and pastoral teams to implement support strategies
  • Follow and contribute to Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and behaviour plans
  • Foster an inclusive, positive learning environment
Essential Requirements
  • Previous experience supporting SEN and/or SEMH students in a secondary school
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to build trust and positive relationships with students and staff
  • Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection procedures
  • Reliable, empatheticсмен, and proactive approach
Desirable
  • african experience with de-escalation techniques and restorative approaches
  • Understanding of the SEND Code of Practice
  • Relevant qualifications (e.g., Level 2/3 TA, SEN-specific training)
