Job summary

Barchester Healthcare is seeking a qualified Second Chef to deliver hotel/restaurant standards with no split shifts. You will assist the Head Chef in menu development and work with residents to tailor nutritious, delicious menus while maintaining a warm home-like kitchen.

Qualifications

Personable and warm approach with a genuine interest in residents’ wellbeing.
Hold City & Guilds/NVQ/SVQ or equivalent.
Good understanding of nutrition.
Experience with fresh seasonal food.
Ability to create a warm and welcoming environment within the home.
Confidence engaging with residents to create appetising and nutritious menus.
Good understanding of HACCP.

Responsibilities

Manage the kitchen in the Head Chef's absence.
Assist Head Chef in menu development.
Work with fresh produce to deliver high quality dishes.
Create a warm, efficient and fun environment.
Work within budget.
Complete regular audits.
Manage stock control.
