Barchester Healthcare is seeking a qualified Second Chef to support the Head Chef in delivering nutritious, flavoursome meals across our care home kitchens. You’ll work with residents to tailor menus, ensuring high standards and a warm, welcoming dining environment.

We value warm, motivated chefs who can balance quality with budget, maintain HACCP compliance, and help create meals that residents love while maintaining work-life balance.

Qualifications

• City & Guilds/NVQ/SVQ or equivalent required.
• Good understanding of nutrition.
• Experience of working with fresh seasonal food.

Responsibilities

• Manage the kitchen in the Head Chef’s absence.
• Assist Head Chef in menu development.
• Work with fresh produce to deliver high quality and wholesome dishes cooked to the highest standards.
• Create a warm, efficient and fun environment.
• Work within budget.
• Complete regular audits.
• Manage stock control.
