Science Technician - Independent School (Tunbridge Wells Area)

Part‑time – 21 hours per week. Start date: January 2026.

A well‑regarded independent school in the Tunbridge Wells area is seeking a skilled and organised Science Technician to join their Science Department on a part‑time basis from January. This is an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic and proactive individual to support high‑quality teaching and learning across Biology, Chemistry and Physics.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare, set up and clear away equipment, materials and chemicals for practical science lessons.
• Ensure laboratories and prep rooms are maintained to a high standard of safety, cleanliness and organisation.
• Support teachers with demonstrations and experiments, including the safe handling and storage of equipment.
• Maintain accurate stock levels of materials and order replacements when required.
• Assist with the implementation and monitoring of all relevant health and safety procedures, including risk assessments.
• Provide general technical support to teaching staff across the Science Department.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have

• Previous experience as a Science Technician or a strong scientific background (school, laboratory, or industry).
• Good understanding of laboratory health and safety practices (CLEAPSS knowledge beneficial).
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
• A proactive, flexible and supportive approach to working within a team.
• Confidence working across all science disciplines at secondary level.
