Job summary

Marchant Recruitment is supporting a friendly Bournemouth primary school in recruiting a diligent School Caretaker. The role covers opening and securing the site, everyday site checks, minor repairs and maintaining safe, clean facilities for pupils and staff.

The ideal candidate will have previous school premises experience, be practical and reliable, able to work independently, and committed to safeguarding. An enhanced DBS check is required.

Qualifications

• Previous school caretaker experience is essential.
• DBS enhanced check required.
• Able to work independently and prioritise duties with safeguarding in mind.

Responsibilities

• Opening and securing the school each day.
• Carrying out morning site and safety checks.
• Completing minor repairs and general maintenance.
• Checking classrooms, corridors, toilets and communal areas.
• Maintaining outdoor areas and playgrounds.
• Preparing rooms for assemblies, meetings and school activities.
• Moving furniture and equipment around the school.
• Supporting deliveries and contractors.
• Monitoring the condition of doors, windows, lighting and other facilities.
• Reporting maintenance concerns to the leadership team.
• Responding to urgent issues during the school day.
• Ensuring the site remains safe, clean and presentable.
