Job summary

Complete Classroom Services Ltd in Wimbledon, Merton, is seeking a hands-on School Caretaker / Premises Officer to maintain a safe, well-presented school environment. The role focuses on general maintenance, security, and daily operations across classrooms, offices and outdoor areas.

You will work closely with staff and contractors, manage site access, monitor essential building systems and support events, deliveries and routine inspections.

Qualifications

• The successful candidate will be practical, dependable, organised and proactive, with excellent attention to detail.
• You should be confident carrying out general repairs and maintenance, working independently and prioritising tasks effectively.

Responsibilities

• Carrying out general maintenance, repairs and basic DIY across the school site.
• Ensuring classrooms, offices, communal areas and outdoor spaces are maintained to a high standard.
• Conducting regular site checks and identifying maintenance, health and safety or security issues.
• Supporting the opening and closing of the school premises as required.
• Managing keys, access arrangements and site security.
• Monitoring heating, lighting, alarms and other essential building systems.
• Arranging or supporting contractors and ensuring work is completed safely and appropriately.
• Maintaining outdoor areas, including playgrounds, paths, entrances and surrounding grounds.
• Assisting with deliveries, furniture moves, room setups and school events.
• Maintaining appropriate records relating to maintenance, inspections and site activities.
• Ensuring compliance with health and safety, fire safety and safeguarding procedures.
• Reporting any significant defects, hazards or repairs requiring specialist attention.
