Job summary

Corus Consultancy Limited is seeking a reliable Caretaker for a welcoming primary school in Greater London to help keep buildings and grounds safe, secure and well maintained. The role includes opening and securing the premises, basic maintenance, and ensuring the school is clean and ready for pupils and staff.

You will be dependable, hands-on and capable of prioritising tasks, with good communication skills and a commitment to safeguarding. An enhanced DBS check and references are required.

Qualifications

• Practical maintenance skills and flexible day-to-day tasks.
• Ability to work independently and prioritise tasks.
• Good communication with pupils, staff and visitors.
• Understanding of health and safety, or willingness to train.
• Commitment to safeguarding and keeping children safe.
• Enhanced DBS check and satisfactory references required.

Responsibilities

• Open and secure the school site in line with agreed procedures.
• Carry out routine checks of the buildings, grounds and equipment.
• Complete basic maintenance and minor repairs, reporting issues that need specialist attention.
• Help keep the site clean, tidy and free from hazards.
• Monitor access to the premises and follow visitor and security procedures.
• Support deliveries, room set-ups and school events as required.
• Report health and safety concerns promptly.
• Follow safeguarding, health and safety and site security procedures.
