Job description
Overview

To support Sixth Form students whilst working closely with the Head of Sixth Form, the Senior Learning Advisor and Sixth Form tutors to monitor attendance and provide pastoral and academic support and implement intervention strategies to meet the needs of Sixth Formers at Buxton Community School.

Responsibilities
  • To monitor attendance of students in the Sixth Form and make necessary interventions in liaison with the Head of Sixth Form, staff, students and parents when issues arise.
  • To track daily attendance and punctuality of Sixth Form students using the school's MIS system.
  • To act as the first point of contact for attendance-related queries from students, parents/carers, and staff.
  • To follow up on unexplained absences promptly through calls, emails, or meetings with students and parents/carers.
  • To identify patterns of absence and lateness, and produce regular attendance reports for the Head of Sixth Form and senior leadership team.
  • To implement attendance improvement plans for students with persistent absence, including referrals to external agencies where appropriate.
  • To be a point of contact for students needing to collect work if lessons are cancelled.
  • To liaise with staff and distribute cover work in case of staff absence.
  • To support and manage the organisation of the Sixth Form Study Centre.
  • To provide general administration duties and maintain appropriate recording and filing systems.
