Job summary

Plumb Centre, part of the Wolseley Group, is hiring a Sales Assistant for Garforth. You will serve trade customers, advise on plumbing products and handle inquiries by phone and email.

Expect outbound calls to re-engage past customers and drive branch sales, with warehousing duties and occasional local deliveries in a full-time 40-hour week. Knowledge of plumbing, strong customer service, and willingness to learn are essential; a driving licence is beneficial.

Qualifications

• Customer-facing sales experience and good communication skills.
• Willingness to assist across branch operations and stock handling.
• Ability to understand customer needs and provide product advice.

Responsibilities

• Serving customers on the trade counter with advice and product recommendations.

• Making outbound calls to previous customers to regain business.
• Identifying opportunities to drive sales within the branch with new and existing customers.
• Handling warehouse tasks: stock-in, put-away, picking and packing orders, lifting heavy items.
• Occasional 3.5T van deliveries to local customers.
• Full-time role: 40 hours/week, Mon–Fri 07:30–16:30; Saturdays 08:00–12:00 on rota.

Position: Sales Assistant - Garforth (LS25 2JY) - Plumb Centre

Salary: £26,695 + Bonus

Job Responsibilities

• Serving customers on the trade counter by understanding their specific needs and providing advice and product recommendations
• Responding to customer enquiries via phone & email promptly and courteously, with a proactive attitude
• Making outbound phone calls to previous customers to regain their business
• Actively identifying and pursuing opportunities to drive sales within the branch, engaging both new and existing customers
• General warehouse duties including booking incoming stock onto the system and putting it away and picking and packing customer orders which will involve manual handling heavy stock e.g. boilers, radiators, sinks and toilets
• Driving a 3.5T van on occasion to make deliveries to local customers
• This is a full time permanent role working 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday 07.30am - 4.30pm and Saturday mornings on a rota basis 08.00am - 12.00pm.

Required Skills and Experience

• A Driving Licence would be beneficial
• Plumbing & Heating knowledge is ideal
• Previous Face to Face sales and customer service experience
• Warehouse experience
• The ability to deliver outstanding customer service
• To be a team player who is happy to assist in all areas to ensure the smooth running of the branch
• Eagerness to learn, with a positive and enthusiastic attitude and a strong work ethic
• To be comfortable lifting heavy items
