Brook Street is recruiting an Admin Officer to support court activity at the Royal Courts of Justice in London. You will prepare papers, manage records and assist with hearings, ensuring processes run smoothly.

The role is full-time, Monday to Friday, based at Strand, WC2A 2LL, and requires calm under pressure, meticulous document handling and strong communication with court users.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Prepare papers and files for court, tribunals, hearings and meetings.
  • Produce court/tribunal documents, with general photocopying and filing support.
  • Create and update records on an in-house computer system, ensuring accurate data input.
  • Manage post opening and dispatch, including booking and preparing meeting rooms.
  • Prepare meeting materials such as agendas, joining instructions and handouts.
  • Draft standard letters and correspondence, plus minutes, notes, reports and submissions.
  • Support clerking duties in civil and family courts and tribunals by keeping papers up to date and ready.
  • Assist court users, support listing/rota management, and check files.
  • Contact relevant parties, schedule and serve court documents, execute warrants, and collect fines/fees (including chip and pin)
  • Handle face-to-face counter enquiries and respond to written and telephone enquiries.
  • Contribute to team work to keep meetings relevant, timely and productive.
  • Support problem-solving and small projects, including assessing the impact of new SOPs.
  • Take on ad hoc operational duties when required (including Jury Bailiff Officer, L+D Co-ordinator and H+S roles).
  • Process casework documentation including court orders, claims, fines and fees and legal aid.
