Qualifications

Job Summary

Rotational Dietitian Fixed term contract until March 2027

Department Nutrition & Dietetics

Band 5/4 £27,485 - £37,796 Per annum, pro rata if part-time

Hours: 37.5 per week, all MUKH roles will be considered for flexible working

The vacancy is for a Band 5 post; however, we will also accept applications from dietitians either waiting for or with HCPC registration, who have reduced clinical experience and would work in a B4 role until competencies are achieved

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a registered Dietitian to join our friendly, proactive dietetic team. This post is a rotational band 5 position and will be a good opportunity to practice all you have learnt, to develop your knowledge and skills.

You will be joining our wider team of over 30 registered dietitians, dietetic support workers and admin staff, covering acute, community, paediatric and learning disability services.

We have a dedicated Therapy Practice Education team to support staff development.

You will be joining a forward-thinking department that is itself developing at a great rate; this opportunity could enhance your dietetic experience towards your new career.

Job responsibilities

Clinical

  • To develop and maintain a high standard of knowledge and practical experience in dietetics.
  • To provide nutritional therapy, education and support to inpatients of MKUH.

Education

  • To be proactive in identifying and addressing the educational needs of patients and carers including health professionals from other disciplines.
  • To assist in providing training and guidance for members of the multidisciplinary team.

Clinical Governance

  • To work within the Code of Practice of the Health Care Professions Council (HCPC) and the guidelines and policies of the HCPC and the British Dietetic Association.
  • To work within the requirements of the Acute Trust policies and procedures.

Committee Membership

The post holder will be required to represent the Dietetic Department at internal or external meetings as appropriate including attendance at:

  • Quality Development Meetings
  • Acute Department Meetings

Person Specification

Qualifications and knowledge

  • An appropriate degree recognised for registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
  • Registered with Health and Care Professions Council.

Desirable

  • Membership of the British Dietetic Association.

Experience

  • Experience of clinical practice consistent, at least, with successful completion of student clinical placement.
  • Competent in the use of I.T equipment and basic software especially e‑mail and word‑processing.

Skills

  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Practices evidence‑based dietetics; can research and appraise the evidence; can devise practical action from the evidence.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Good presentation skills and ability to work with individuals and groups.
  • Sound clinical dietetic skills to enable work with adult patients.
