Job summary

The RAC is recruiting a Roadside Technician for the Exeter cluster to provide expert mechanical roadside repair, diagnostics, and emergency breakdown support across the UK. You’ll start and finish your day at home with demand-led shifts averaging 40 hours per week and optional overtime.

You’ll earn £36,400 base with a realistic OTE around £60,000, with top performers earning more through bonuses and overtime.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 2 qualification in Light Vehicle Maintenance (or equivalent) with 2+ years’ experience
• or 5+ years’ experience as a Vehicle Technician/Mechanic
• A full UK driving licence with fewer than 6 points

Responsibilities

• Perform mechanical roadside repairs, diagnostics, and emergency breakdown support to get members back on the road.
• Travel locally within the Exeter cluster area starting and finishing at home, with shifts averaging 40 hours per week and optional overtime.
• Use RAC van, fuel card, uniform, tools, and diagnostic kit provided.
• Provide quick, confident solutions and reassuring service to members during roadside calls.
